John’s roots as a visual artist began in photography and filmmaking, and shifted into sculpture after finishing film school at Syracuse University, NY in 1997.
Finding satisfaction in creating tangible objects with his own hands, he began working exclusively in ceramics for its range of possibilities and noble tradition.
In 2000, he began installing tiles for residential kitchen and bath remodels, dividing his time between art and construction.
As his skills in one medium grew, so did his desire to learn others. He began working interchangeably in a variety of materials, developing a style that places emphasis on the appearance of materials and how they are constructed.
John currently lives in San Francisco with his wife and two children.
